Former KITTIE Bassist JENNIFER ARROYO: 'Deep Down I'm Pretty Damn Girlie'

June 3, 2005

Former KITTIE bassist Jennifer Arroyo recently spoke to NorthJersey.com about SUICIDE CITY (formerly RODEK),her new band also featuring BIOHAZARD guitarist/vocalist Billy Graziadei.

"Between Billy and I, we've seen so much [stuff] in this industry and in ways it translates into the music," Arroyo said. "And KITTIE wasn't a band I created; that was [Lander sisters] Morgan's and Mercedes' band, and the hype had already reached its limit. Now I have free rein creatively. I can bring a heavy song to the table, a light song to the table. There's no limitations."

Arroyo spoke with the same enthusiasm she had when she started touring at the tender age of 14. Burnout is nowhere evident, and there's a subtle nod to starting from scratch with the new project.

"I brought a lot to the table with KITTIE," she said. "I'll bring more to the table with SUICIDE CITY. I've got a lot of years invested in this business, and this is a new beginning. I've had music in me since my mother laid her headphones on her pregnant stomach."

And speaking of new beginnings, how does Arroyo feel about performing with all men after her stint with KITTIE?

"The scents are different," she said. "Deep down I'm pretty damn girlie."
